ANSI SQL Transparent XML Structured Data Multipath Hierarchical Processing with Dynamic Output
This comprehensive fifty page resource introduces a number of problems with the current ANSI SQL integration of native XML that are preventing the full use of this SQL driven technology. It puts forth an advanced working solution based on ANSI SQL's natural multipath hierarchical processing of structured data by eliminating navigational processing required for semistructured data which is not a requirement for SQL processing. This paper explains how this previously unrealized natural multipath capability is utilized to solve current SQL/XML problems seamlessly and naturally at a transparent fully dynamic hierarchical processing level. This also enables advanced new structured data processing capabilities that produce correct XML results automatically for on-demand dynamic structured output suitable for new applications such as dynamic XML publishing. A major portion of this paper is actual examples produced from an online dynamic interactive ANSI SQL transparent XML hierarchical processor which have been annotated to indicate their processing.

oXygen XML Editor adds oNVDL as a free open source project
oNVDL is the oXygen XML Editor NVDL implementation. It was developed on top of Jing to add NVDL support starting from the existing NRL support. It also adds a couple of fixes to Jing related with XML Schema validation. oNVDL is included in the XML editor, but is available also as a separate file download. NVDL stands for Namespace-based Validation Dispatching Language and it is Part 4 of ISO/IEC 19757 DSDL (Document Schema Definition Languages). It allows specifying sections of XML documents to be validated against different schemas thus enabling the creation of complex documents containing multiple languages without the need to modify the schemas that define each language to take into account the other languages. It allows also mixing different schema types like XML Schema, Relax NG and Schematron. A typical example is a document that contains XForms content inside XHTML.

Weather Data Available in XML
wombatmobile writes "Wired reports the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration this week began providing weather data in an open access XML format. Previously, the data was technically available to the public, but in a format that's not easily deciphered. How will the free and easy availability of valuable data like this in XML affect the development of the web? One example is Tom Groves SVG weather. This type of visualization of XML data is about to fall within easy reach with nothing more than a text editor required as an authoring tool. From March 2005 SVG becomes part of the standard Mozilla/FireFox build. As an example of how web standards are supposed to work, what more could you hope to find?" We mentioned the policy change a few days ago.
